U STREET: Sakerum To Debut Bento Box Brunch Service On March 25th
Sakerum, the newly opened Latin-Asian restaurant located in the bustling 14th Street corridor, has announced the debut of its Bento Box Brunch service. Brunch will debut on March 25th and will be available Saturday and Sunday, from 11 AM to 3 PM.
Priced at $29 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, guests can select
from six Japanese-style bento boxes showcasing the best of Latin and
Asian ingredients paired with creative brunch cocktails.
Created by Executive Chef Khan Gayabazar, bento boxes choices are Churrasco, grilled beef short rib, sushi rice, chimichurri salsa and fried egg; the Chicken Karaage, double fried chicken thigh, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, sautéed onion and fried egg; the Yaki-Sake, grilled salmon, mojo sauce, poached egg and basmati rice; the Arroz Chaufa with shrimp & chicken fried rice; the Pancake & Omelet, choice of meat or veggie omelet and pancakes, and the Sushi Box with a chef selection of seven-piece nigiri & sashimi. Each bento box is accompanied with mixed green seaweed salad, bacon-jalapeño home fries, fried plantains and tamago futomaki with the exception of the Sushi Box, which comes with tamago futomaki, California roll and edamame. Guests can also look forward to tempting side dishes such as Pancakes; Two Eggs (any style); Home Fries; Brussels Sprouts; Sweet Potato Fries; Sausage, Egg & Cheese Bao Buns, and Edamame, choice of cashew & lime or spicy sambal. These range in price from $5 to $12.
For the perfect pairing, brunch-goers can select one of the creative brunch libations crafted by Cocktail Consultant Gina Cherseveani. Standouts include the Spicy Asian Bloody Mary with house-made bloody batch, soy sauce, sriracha, and shichimi; Lychee Mimosa with lychee, yuzu sake, rum and Cava; Greek Frappe with Smith & Cross rum, cinnamon, instant coffee and cream; Grey Hound with vodka, grapefruit, Asian pear and citrus kiss; Pineapple Avocado Smoothie with mezcal, avocado, pineapple and cream, and the signature SakeRum Daiquiri with sake, rum, lemon and herbal simple syrup. Cocktails range in price from $12 to $15.
