LOGAN: Four-Day Mardi Gras at Black Jack
Black Jack will mark Mardi Gras with four days of festivities beginning on Saturday, February 6 culminating in a festive, New Orleans-style celebration on Tuesday, February 9. Guests will be made to feel as if they’re on Bourbon Street as the space will be transformed with elaborate carnival decorations, transporting patrons to the French Quarter, and the regular food and drink menu will change for the four-day period featuring Cajun-style classics. A funk band will perform on opening day and will close out the festivities on Mardi Gras.
The space above 14th Street’s Pearl Dive Oyster Palace will be fully decked out in purple, gold and green, featuring masquerade-style masks, balloon arches, lamp posts, New Orleans street signs, brass instruments, peacock feathers and, of course, Mardi Gras beads. A photo booth with all the requisite Mardi Gras props – masks, beads and more – will also be available. Staff will be in “krewe-inspired” costumes while masks will be handed to guests upon arrival.
Local band, SWAGFUNK, a regular at DC’s popular Funk Parade, will perform on Saturday, February 6 from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m., and again on Mardi Gras from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. On Sunday the 7th, happy hour will be available all day and the bar will open at 3:00 p.m. **Note: the Super Bowl will also be shown on all TV screens. Black Jack will open on Monday the 8th at 6:00 p.m., serving food specials and happy hour all night, and again on Mardi Gras at 6:00 p.m.
Black Jack’s regular food and drink menu will go on hiatus for four days, and newly installed chef, Austin Ginsberg, will instead serve:
If that wasn't enough, Pearl Dive Oyster Palace will sell whole king cakes for $30. Each cake serves 8 to 12 people and includes Mardi Gras beads and a baby baked inside. Orders must be received by February 5, and cakes will be available for pickup between February 6 and 9. Orders can be placed here.
